Neat Halloween Facts!

In honor of today being Halloween (aka the Night of the Phantoms) here are a few neat facts about this spooky celebration:

1. If you use (or sell) Silly String in Hollywood on Halloween, you'll either have to pay a massive fine of 1,000 dollars or spend six months in jail. Yikes! o.o

2. The Irish brought the tradition of Halloween to America, but it died out considerably after sugar was rationed for World War 2. Afterwards, it was brought back to life by various TV shows and comic strips, making the holiday popular again! :D

3. Originally, instead of pumpkins being carved for Halloween, TURNIPS were carved!

4. The next full moon on Halloween won't occur until 2020. So much for the spooky theory that Halloween often brings full moons! X3 Also, next year, Halloween will be on a Saturday.

5. Originally, Halloween was a Celtic festival known as Hallow's Eve! Spooky name, huh? ^W^

6. People think that long ago, the tradition of "souling" would occur when the poor would knock on doors and ask for food in exchange for prayers for the dead.

7. Even wonder where the 'trick' in 'trick-or-treat' comes from? Well, believe it or not, people used to play pranks on Halloween! This included egging houses, opening farmer's gates, and even tipping over outhouses! Yikes! :O

8. Pumpkins, such as the kind we carve for Halloween, are perhaps the oldest domestic plants on Earth! British colonists used to rely on them to survive once they arrived in North America.

9. Wearing costumes on Halloween originally started because the Irish believed in spirits. From this, the custom of dressing up as ghosts and witches arose.

10. The largest pumpkin in the world was grown by a Californian man. At 2,032 pounds, it was nearly the size of a small car!

The Party Was...

... well, pretty terrible. XP

Not a single person showed up until way after, when one of my buddies was able to make it (she had a conflict). And then all of her buddies came to her, without knowing there was anything going on.

Sooo, this has taught me to not have parties, or at least not until more people read my posts. *sigh* Well, at least I ended up kind of having a party, even if it was an hour later. X3

I miss the buddies whom I left behind, without a chance to say a goodbye to them.

Hazy weeks fade into months, which smudge like a tearstained oil pastel painting. The memories of laughs, inside jokes, moments that made my heart leap with joy.
I inwardly crumble when I think of everyone who's gone.
Those that I thought I meant the world to, those that mean the world to me still. Those that I know still care deeply about me, even if I never see them anymore.
When I think of those days when Animal Jam shone bright with possibilities, it fills me with warmth. Those days when everyone was connected to each other, before Buddy Lists started emptying out and darkening, leaving hollow spaces. Drama was the inevitable result, and the sadness in everyone's hearts was tangible.
There was a special buddy that I cried my eyes out over. He seemed to be growing more and more distant from me, like the ocean being tugged away from the shore.
It saddened me, and it still does.
To everyone who ever meant anything to me, to everyone that's quit:
I miss you. <3

Hockey Mask & Neat Dens

Today's new item is the creepy, unsettling...

... Hockey Mask, located in Jam Mart Clothing! ^-^ 

Ooh, AJHQ. You need to stop with the Halloween (the movie) references! They're too spooky! *shudders*

The coloring's okay (I mean, did you expect a hockey mask to come in neon pink?), and the price is amazing. But the item... the item is member. Need I say more? >.<

I also had the idea to do a neat dens feature, so let's go and explore a few epic dens! :D

Eyeball Hat & Balloon Garden

Today's returning Halloween item has always been one of my favorites, because it enables you to keep an 'eye' on someone 24/7. (;
Okay sorry, that pun was pretty terrible. XP

The Eyeball Hat has returned to stores! YESSS! If only it weren't member. :'c

Party Invitation!

Remember: come wearing a costume, or don't come at all! ^W^ There will be Halloween stories, photoshoots, and maybe even a costume contest, so be prepared!

Golden Nerd Glasses?

Hallo! ^.^

Everyone (or at least most Jammers) have spotted the distinct-looking Nerd Glasses before. They're an RIM that's not too sought after, yet they're commonly come by. In the Jamaa Township, you might see a wolf or seal sporting a pair, though they're not exclusively for that animal.

You may notice the silver tape holding the glasses together, as it is what easily identifies them as Nerd Glasses. Well, in a few versions of this interesting item, the color of the tape is yellow-gold. It is thought that you can earn these from the adventures. :3

Many people seem to think that they're a glitch in the program. I personally don't think they are, because many Jammers have claimed to been awarded a pair from the adventures. Maybe they were originally a glitch, but by now AJHQ would have found out, so I think they chose to leave them in the game to add a little excitement. c:

Since they're not a worn or a spike or something that's already highly valued , I would say they aren't worth THAT much. Maybe a small beta of little value, but I haven't decided quite yet. I might update this later with some more. ^-^

What are your opinions on this item? Glitched, or intentional?

Rare Spooky Top Hat & Mystery of the Turret

Hallo, Jammers! ^.^

I had this weird dream that I was an astronaut, and some of my friends and I went to an astronaut camp inside of some old church where we trained. And for some reason, when I went on a mission to explore Earth with the space rocket, I didn't wear my astronaut suit and this weird alien had to pilot the space rocket and teach me how to drive it.

Yikes, sorry for getting onto that utterly random topic. X3

Today's RIM managed to smuggle into the 11th page of clothing! o.o Let's welcome the fabulous...

Don't you just love it when AJHQ takes a previous, item, recolors it, then calls it 'spooky' or 'angelic' or whatever?! -.- Aside from being a typical RIM, though, this is a really nice item! ^W^

When you put it on eagles, it looks like it's smushing into their skull.

Hah, doesn't it? XP

I also noticed something odd about Animal Jam. You know how, when you walk into Jam Mart Furniture, has two stories: one small one, one large one, right?

Well, look at it from the outside and it and it looks like just the opposite. o.e

One larger floor---

And then one teensy turret, way up there!

The only thing is, theoretically, we should be walking into the large floor. And then, the larger floor (the one with all of the tables) is technically a basement, so you can't see it from the outside. But what does that make the turret? owo

*goes inside of JMF and tries to fly up to the top*

Oh, you can't. >.< What do you guys think that the purpose for that turret would've been, anyways? I think it may be a place to store the phantoms, because of the flapping red flag. Red means danger, right? :O

Oooh, and one more thing: 

Yes, there is going to be a party for 40,000 views! ^-^ Thank you all so much for sticking with this blog, because without you guys reading my posts and commenting and just being amazing, there wouldn't really be a reason to do this at all. <3

I just decided to make a post about all the fun I've been having today playing one of my favorite games in Jamaa, Best Dressed. c; Hopefully this post will even give you some ideas for Night of the Phantoms costumes! So without further ado, here it is! ;D

"Dress up the SLEEPIEST!" I decided to go with the 6:00 AM zombie version of me. >:D Well, minus the weird cap and fins, hehe. Aaand the fact that I'm a girl, obviously.

Everyone "dressed up the STRANGEST!" I'm the odd-looking dolphin on the bottom right. XP

Trying to dress like an eel was no easy task for Eternal, ovbiously. :p

Umm, guys... is this really what being a phantom looks like...?

Very... erm... nice sailor look you have going there, Mr. Octopus. The lei and the airplane wings are a really... nice... touch....... *cough*

I'm not exactly sure how dressing up the smartest would work, but I'm not sure that's it. X3

Wait, we literally just "dressed the smartest." And now you want us to "dress the most INTELLIGENT?" *sobs*

I think I'm seeing a theme here, AJHQ... -.- Or should I say, teachers who have magically hacked into Animal Jam to remind us to do schoolwork! >.<
